About

Learn about Ruth Bader Ginsburg and pursue justice!

The second woman, and first Jewish woman, to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933-2020) became known affectionately later in her career as the Notorious RBG, inspired by her passionate written dissents, especially around civil rights and social justice issues, such as the Voting Rights Act. She was an outspoken advocate for equal rights and justice throughout her career, known especially for her precedent-setting work on women’s rights. Following her ‘fiery dissent’ around the rolling back of the Voting Rights Act, she began to be referred to with the edgy moniker RBG by which she has been fondly referred to in pop culture circles ever since since, a reference to the late rapper, also from Brooklyn, the Notorious B.I.G.
